Send Gmail Email When User Updates Profile (Zapier)
Note: In order to utilize this functionality, you will first need to integrate Zapier with MemberPress: https://docs.memberpress.com/article/263-official-memberpress-zapier-integration
We are often asked if there is a possibility of being notified when a Member has updated their profile information. Here are some instructions on how to easily make this possible by using Zapier to create a Zap with MemberPress and Gmail.
Step:1 Login and Start Creating a Zap
The first thing you will need to do is login to your Zapier account and click on the "Make a Zap" button.
Step 2: Creating a MemberPress Trigger
Search for MemberPress in the search bar and then click on it once you find it.
Next you will click the "show less common options" link.
Scroll down and find "Member Account Updated" and select it. Then click the Save + Continue button.
Connect your MemberPress account if you haven't done so already and then click continue.
The next page shows a sample of data from your site. You can use the default one created or you can search for specific data that you want to test with. When finished, click Continue.
Step 3: Creating a Gmail Action Trigger
There are 2 options to start creating an Action Trigger. Either click Add a Step or click or click the link provided.
Search for Gmail and select it.
Then you will select "Send Email" and then click Save + Continue
You will want to connect your Gmail account to the Zap if you haven't done so already and then click Continue.
You will have many optional and a few required fields to fill out. You will want to make sure you fill out the "To" field with your email address so that you receive the notification that the user has updated their profile information.
Here is an example of how you could fill out your required fields and to pull specific data from the user.
You can then test to make sure you receive the email correctly from the test data setup previously by clicking the Test button. You will want to check your email to make sure the email was sent correctly with the proper information. Once verified, you can click Finish on the following page.
The last step is to name your Zap and turn it ON.
Now you have a way of knowing when a user updates their profile. You can use this guide to set up many different Zaps with Gmail to get various information by following the same steps above but change the option chosen in the third screenshot to be triggered when a different type of event happens.
